Abdul El-Sayed Gets Testy With Bret Baier: "I Have Never Been A Member Of The Muslim Brotherhood"

Michigan Senate Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed clashed with FOX News anchor Bret Baier over questions about his alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

BRET BAIER: You said Democrats must win by massive numbers so the result is unquestionable. If you lose narrowly, will you accept the result, no caveats?

ABDUL EL-SAYED (D), MICHIGAN SENATE NOMINEE: I am going to accept the result of a fair and free election, right? And of course, like, if we don't win the election, I'm going to accept that. I hope that Mike Rogers will say the same.

BRET BAIER: Mike Rogers has been really hitting this Muslim Brotherhood thing. I know you don't want to talk about your family and the history there, but he goes back, he goes back to these campaign sites --

[CROSSTALK]

ABDUL EL-SAYED: Bret, Bret, Bret. No, no, no, no, let me just stop there. You are asking this question to raise a question about --

BRET BAIER: I'm not.

ABDUL EL-SAYED: -- whether or not I have dual loyalty.

BRET BAIER: This is specific. His campaign sites say 2012 --

ABDUL EL-SAYED: My loyalty belongs to the Constitution of the United States.

BRET BAIER: Thank you.

ABDUL EL-SAYED: And as every senator who's ever served, I will swear an oath to that Constitution.

BRET BAIER: He says --

ABDUL EL-SAYED: I'm not interested. I'm not interested in what you're going to pull out --

BRET BAIER: In the 2012 statement?

ABDUL EL-SAYED: That 2012 statement and a letter.

BRET BAIER: You're not going to walk that back?

ABDUL EL-SAYED: You're going to pull that out of context.

BRET BAIER: I'm not pulling it out.

ABDUL EL-SAYED: You're going to ask questions about my allegiance. Let me just be clear.

BRET BAIER: This is Rogers' campaign.I'm just asking you about that.

ABDUL EL-SAYED: Don't be Rogers' campaign, be a journalist.

BRET BAIER: I am.

ABDUL EL-SAYED: So as a journalist, if you're asking a question about my allegiance to the constitution, I have never been a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. I never will be a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

I am interested in serving the United States. I'm interested in swearing an oath to the constitution that every senator has sworn an oath to.

If the question about my faith is the issue which Mike Rogers wants it to be, I think it is sad and beneath him, and frankly beneath the President of the United States, to make that an issue because under our constitution, you're guaranteed the right to pray as you choose to pray.

Biden's HHS Pushed 'Trans' Ideology on Child Welfare Services: On Background #41

President Joe Biden's administration tried to make affirming transgenderism the national standard within child welfare services with an unnoticed, $20 million grant by the Department of Human Services. Reporter Meg Brock found and reported on the plan through an open records request and exposed the story.

Her reporting on this subject, first for The Daily Caller and now for The Daily Wire, is a finalist for a major journalism prize this year, and she joins the On Background with Susan Crabtree podcast to explain how trans ideology has taken over the child welfare services offered by the states, an issue that Donald Trump made a key part of his 2024 campaign and early policy changes.

Her reporting, split into a three part series, is about a 78-page plan I obtained through a public records request, showing that the Biden administration was implementing a five-year plan through a $20 million grant to completely overtake social services across the country with transgender ideology, Brock tells Crabtree and co-host Eric Eggers of the Government Accountability Institute.

The grant was used to create resources, training materials, policies that transform the entire system to be 'transgender-affirming,' she discovered. The federal programs, the tools that were created, would then be piped out to states across the country.

Brock, who was a licensed pediatric nurse before she became a journalist, previously reported on activists within the child welfare field who had been pushing trans ideology within this branch of social work. This latest series took her two and one-half years of public records requests to unearth.

One of the things I think is really important for people to understand is that within child welfare services, there's been a move to view parents who affirm a child's [actual] sex as abusive if their child believes they are transgender, Brock notes.

This has been something that's been happening very much under the radar. But now, more and more families -- in California, Maryland, all across the country – are speaking out about how they lost their children because they were deemed abusive by the child welfare system because they would not affirm that you can change your sex, Brock says.

On Background co-host Eric Eggers's family has fostered more than 20 children in the past 10 years through the Florida social welfare system. I have not found an intentional effort to proactively provide [any] mental health and emotional counseling services to a population that needs it.

It is insane how much they rely on foster parents to be volunteer babysitters. You are paid, but I promise you it's not very much money. Eggers says. But what strikes me in this report is that this [effort] is that the most aggressive and intentional effort to provide counseling services is not for emotional or mental health needs, but for 'sexual identity' needs

He wonders if Brock saw any emphasis by the HHS department under Biden to also improve basic mental health services.

That's honestly one of the things that motivates me to do this research -- the idea that some of the most vulnerable children in our country are being secretly preyed upon by this horrendous ideology that is putting them on this pipeline to completely mutilate their bodies, Brock replies. It's just heartbreaking.

After researching how the activists within the child services field behave, she answers, I think the activists really believe that affirming a child's so-called gender identity is the counseling. They would say that you are helping their mental health. That's why they would say that parents who don't affirm their child's gender identity are causing them emotional harm, because they're not providing this so-called love and acceptance, Brock says.

I did a story earlier this year on a mom in Oregon. The Oregon Department of Human Services actually sent her a paper that said, 'You have caused your child a mental injury for not affirming their transgender identity.' In the state of Oregon, a mental injury is a form of emotional abuse, Brock adds.

Crabtree, based in California, as also noticed this. She asks if states like California that can reject foster parents who aren't 'gender-affirming' or take kids away from non-gender-affirming parents are still doing it. Is it a state issue rather than a federal issue?

There was a federal bill that was introduced in September, Brock says, that is trying to clarify that it's not a form of child abuse to affirm a child 's [biological]sex. The bill would also make it that so that federal dollars can't go towards training programs that either train social workers or parents to affirm a child's transgender identity and provide parents a right of action to be able to sue or have legal standing in court if they've been harmed by, say, the California Department of Human Services taking their child away.

Brock's ground-breaking reporting is a finalist for the 2026 DAO Prize, which honors fair and accurate journalism.

Plus, the Trump administration is holding up Nick Shirley as an example for a program that rewards "whistleblowers" and people who report government fraud, and the group shares their picks for this week's "You Cannot Be Serious" roundup of unbelievable headlines.

Trump: Ilhan Omar Must Immediately Resign From Congress

President Trump criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) during a Friday campaign rally in Fort Myers, Florida, claiming she used a false identity to enter Congress and demanded that she resign. On Thursday, Trump said Omar has "openly admitted to fraud" and that "she will not be legally allowed to be a member" of Congress.

"Because Ilhan used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume that she must immediately resign from Congress," Trump said in Florida. "So Byron [Donalds] and Ashley [Moody], please inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, James Michael Johnson... that the Democrat party has just conceded the seat of the former Ilhan Omar from the lovely country of Somalia, from the lovely country of Somalia, where they have no government, where they have no anything."

"All they have is crime," Trump continued. "You know what their number one, you know what their number one industry is? Being pirates and robbing ships. No, all they have is crime."

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: But we had a little breaking news last night. It was just revealed that one of my favorite Congress people, a person I have tremendous respect for, Ilhan Omar. And I was saddened to hear that Ilhan Omar is not her name.

It's not. It's not Ilhan Omar. The one she used to get elected and sworn into Congress, that's the one that she used for everything. Ilhan Omar, but rather it's an entirely different name named Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. It's close. It's close, by the way.

It's very close. Not too far away. You got one that's four names, one that's one, and every name is extremely different. And the last name is incredibly, and this is going to be a shock to everybody in this room, but the last name is also, I hate to tell you because you wouldn't even believe this, because it's the exact name of her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.

The person they said she married to come into our country and the person she had some lovely children with. Thank you very much. So when asked whether or not she married her brother, she said, not to my knowledge. That was her.

No, she didn't know. She didn't know. She wasn't sure. Like, if anybody asked me, I told, sorry, today to the fake news when I walked out on that beautiful helipad. You know, we have the fake news. They've never been to hundreds, hundreds. I've never seen so many, but they're always, they're getting worse.

That means you're doing really better when you get, when those groups get bigger and bigger and bigger, more and more fakers. And I shouldn't say, because you have, see all those? Wow, that's a lot. See all the people back there? Six, 7%, they're really fine journalists, six or seven. But, but they were screaming. They want to know so many different things. What about this? What about that?

No wonder that poor young woman, she was a perfect, beautiful woman. When she walked into that press room and they started screaming at her, she freaked out. And I said, you know what? There are nicer ways for you to make a living. You want to deal with these maniacs? You can deal if you want, but there are easier ways for you to live.

But because Ilhan used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume that she must immediately resign from Congress. So Byron and Ashley, please inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, James Michael Johnson. You didn't know his first name was James, James, right? And we love James Michael Johnson. That the Democrat party has just conceded the seat of the former Ilhan Omar from the lovely country of Somalia, from the lovely country of Somalia, where they have no government, where they have no anything. All they have is crime.

You know what their number one, you know what their number one industry is? Being pirates and robbing ships. No, all they have is crime. And she sailed, I don't know how the hell she got here. She sailed, but no, but sail is so nice. She sailed the seven seas and she arrived in our country.

And the first thing she did, coming from a country with no law, no order, no politic, all they have is people that shoot you all the time. No anything, they have nothing. Probably the worst country on earth. There are a couple of that maybe could be right there, but it's among the worst in the world.

She came into our country and she immediately announced that my constitutional rights allow me to tell you how to run the United States of America. She comes from a sh*thouse country and she's telling us and she's telling us how to run the United States. So Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name is openly admitted to fraud and she will not be legally allowed to be a member of that august body that sits in Washington so beautifully, of which we have many members here.

Describing Trump as both a phenomenal communicator -- and miscommunicator-- influenced by his father, Cunningham explains how his outsider mentality shaped his approach to the establishment and to recognizing and developing talent in others.

"Trump is not a self-made man, he was created by the borough of Queens in order to annoy the borough of Manhattan," he joked.

Jonathan Turley: Ilhan Omar Has Done Nothing To Put Questions About Her Background To Rest

George Washington University law professor and FOX News contributor Jonathan Turley weighs in on the controversy surrounding Rep. Ilhan Omar's background.

"The question is whether she could be stripped of her citizenship," Turley said. "That would obviously mean she couldn't be a member of Congress. But also, it's true that if she was elected on false pretenses, if she violated federal election law, that would also put her seat in danger. We just don't know. And we didn't get any closer after this interview. And that's what's so concerning here is that Representative Omar has the ability to put many of these things to rest. She's had that ability for years, and she really has done nothing but give these denials without offering anything to put them to rest."

BILL MELUGIN, FOX NEWS CONGRESSIONAL CORRESPONDENT: A new controversy is really starting to brew over Ilhan Omar concerning whether or not that's even her real name. Fox News Digital reporting that court documents identify the Minnesota Congresswoman as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, also known as Ilhan Abdullahi Omar. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro sounding off on this bombshell discovery.

U.S. ATTORNEY JEANINE PIRRO: Her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. You had it absolutely right. Her sister is Sahra Nur Said Elmi, and her sister actually wrote a book and talked about the fact that Ilhan is her sister. So that is her name... The question is, you know, who is Ilhan Omar, and has she followed all of the laws as it relates to naturalization and immigration?

MELUGIN: And in the meantime, Omar's office is firing back. They're saying, quote, this is completely false. Ilhan Omar is her real name, end quote. Joining us now to talk about this, FOX News contributor Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University. Jonathan, good morning to you. Good to see you on this Friday. Thanks for joining us.

JONATHAN TURLEY, GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY LAW PROFESSOR: Thank you. Good morning.

MELUGIN: So, in fairness to Congresswoman Omar, she hasn't been charged with any crime yet, but a D.C. federal judge did sign off on this federal search warrant, and there has to be some element of probable cause in order to do that. If Ilhan Omar isn't her real name, and she's been using some kind of an alias, what's the significance behind that?

TURLEY: Well, it's very significant, and the fact is that you have to have your real name on passports, on filings for campaign, for official offices, for as a member of Congress. All of those types of filings come with a representation that they are true and accurate, and that can create potential legal problems. Now, obviously, we don't know what her name is in terms of her legal name, assuming she hasn't changed it.

Now, what's curious is she sat for an extended interview with MSNOW, and they rather nimbly avoided asking her any direct question on these outstanding questions that have been lingering for many years. Now, this name business is something relatively recent, but we have had years of controversy. And Representative Omar often gives interviews in which she just denounces these as racist or Islamophobic, but what she doesn't do is offer her own exculpatory evidence, her own direct responses, and we saw none of that in this recent interview.

AISHAH HASNIE, FOX NEWS WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Jonathan, really quickly a follow-up on that before we get to the was she married to her brother controversy. The president last night at that rally in Iowa said that if she truly that wasn't her real name and she was sworn into Congress to serve as a congresswoman, that she would have to resign because that would have basically been canceled out. Is that true?

TURLEY: Well, it could be true. You know, we have to look at, you know, the question is whether she could be stripped of her citizenship. That would obviously mean she couldn't be a member of Congress. But also, it's true that if she was elected on false pretenses, if she violated federal election law, that would also put her seat in danger. We just don't know. And we didn't get any closer after this interview.

And that's what's so concerning here is that Representative Omar has the ability to put many of these things to rest. She's had that ability for years, and she really has done nothing but give these denials without offering anything to put them to rest.

HASNIE: Okay. Really quickly, I want to go to this. This is the president yesterday telling me what he thinks of Ilhan Omar's curious answer, you can call it that, to whether or not she married her brother. Watch this. I think that she didn't just say no.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Well, if you ask me that same question about, let's say, my sister, I would say no. She said not to my knowledge. That tells you a lot right there. No, she's I've never been a big fan of hers. I'll be honest. Let's see how it all works out. But that statement tells you a lot.

HASNIE: Her team says, Jonathan, that she was being sarcastic. Some folks out there are saying, well, that was that's not a very attorney like lawyer like answer.

TURLEY: Yeah. The interview didn't strike me as a sarcastic answer, but I'm not going to put a whole great deal of emphasis on how she answered that. It was an odd answer to make. The real question is to ask her very clearly about some of these issues. You know, people have been asking for a DNA test for years. She could have easily offered DNA evidence and said, look, OK, here you go. Let's let's let's put this one to bed. But she did not. And so these these questions have been lingering.

But there's also lots of questions about the original filings for citizenship. Was she, in fact, 17, like her father stated, or was she 18 where she would have had to file for herself? There's questions as to her father's representations, who was a colonel in a rather brutal regime in Somalia.

And there was a there's a lot of concern that he did not reveal those facts when he himself became a citizen. So these are all snowballing. And the response from Representative Omar, rather baffling that she's really not addressing those specifics. And she certainly wasn't asked for specific answers in that recent interview.

MELUGIN: We don't know what the feds have. They haven't shown their cards yet. But The New York Times editorial board, they're not waiting to find out. We got to leave it here, Jonathan. But they just put out a an opinion piece today saying the Trump administration is similar to Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union for conducting this investigation. So we'll see where it goes. We'll see if that search warrant eventually gets unsealed. As always, great to see you. Thanks for taking the time with us today.

TURLEY: Thank you both.

Enten: Democrats' Lead Among Independents Surpasses 2006 And 2018 Midterm Levels

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten examines polling showing Democrats with a 21-point lead among independent voters in the 2026 national congressional ballot, a margin that would be the largest for Democrats in a midterm election.

JOHN BERMAN, CNN ANCHOR: As the immortal Bill Pullman once said, "today we celebrate Independence Day." Although he was talking about it with a "c." I'm talking about it with a "t." Independents may be decisive in this election. And we've got some pretty stunning new numbers showing exactly where they stand with, what, 11 days before the elections?

With us now, CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten.

You can play the president in the independents day with a "t" movie here. How are independents feeling right now?

HARRY ENTEN, CNN CHIEF DATA ANALYST: You know, Bill Pullman, one of the greatest fictional presidents of all time. And I only found out it was fictional just a few days ago. Someone broke the news to me.

Look at this. OK. Net approval rating pre-midterm among independents. Well, according to my calculations, the worst ever heading into a midterm election is this gentleman on the right side of your screen, Donald John Trump, 50 points underwater. That is way worse than George W. Bush was going into the '06 midterm elections at 31 points underwater. That's actually even worse than Richard Nixon was before he was forced to resign back in 1974. He was 47 points underwater. And then, of course, Truman, who we keep bringing up because that was a terrible midterm for Democrats, he was 27 points underwater.

But Donald Trump, congratulations. Yet another record broken. We're talking about the worst ever net approval for a president heading into a midterm election.

BERMAN: These three elections were terrible.

ENTEN: Terrible. Awful. Awful.

BERMAN: Historically awful for the incumbent party.

ENTEN: Historically. Exactly. Flip of the House and the Senate. Democrats won the House and the Senate in a flip of the House and the Senate.

BERMAN: I mean historic shifts for the Democrat that year.

ENTEN: Yes. Yes. Yes.

BERMAN: So, you're seeing sort of numbers there I don't think anyone expects like that this year, but we'll have to wait and see. More history. Put this in more historical (INAUDIBLE).

ENTEN: OK. So, you know, it's one thing to be talking about the president, right? It's another thing to wondering how this will impact the race for Congress. And, you know, these are not good historical analogs if you're a Republican or you want Republicans to win in the midterm elections.

But here's another one for you. OK, The 2026 national congressional ballot among independents. Democrats are up right now by 21 points, 21 points. If that holds, and we see it in the exit poll, from all the research that I have done, that would be the best margin that Democrats have ever had in a midterm election among independents in the exit poll era. So, it is one thing with Trump, that's historic. But we are seeing that historicness (ph) funnel its way down in the race for Congress. Democrats with an historic lead right now in the national congressional polls.

BERMAN: And that would include even big wave elections that we've seen before?

ENTEN: That would include --

BERMAN: In 2006 and '18.

ENTEN: Exactly. That would include 2006. That would include 2018. That would include any of the elections that we're looking at. 2008 as well.

BERMAN: OK. Now overlay this on one of the races we're watching most closely in Texas.

ENTEN: Yes. OK. So, what could this possibly mean? You know we're talking about the fact that James Talarico may, in fact, become the first Democrat to win a Texas Senate race since 1988. How is he doing it? He's doing it with independents. That is how he would do it.

Take a look at this. OK, Texas Senate fall polling among Indies. Beto O'Rourke was actually down four points among independents at this point. Look at James Talarico. He is up. He is up significantly. Up 23 points. That is how James Talarico is, by the smallest of margins, slightly ahead, though within the margin of error, in a historically Republican state, is because he's putting up historic numbers with independents.

BERMAN: It's important to point out in Texas, the numbers underneath the hood there are very different than anything we've ever seen.

ENTEN: That is exactly right. It's historic polling, which may lead to a historic result for Democrats.

BERMAN: Harry Enten, thank you very much.

ENTEN: Thank you, my friend.

Open to Debate: Should Cities Pull the Plug on Flock Cameras?

From packed city council meetings to protests outside city halls, a growing backlash against Flock Safety cameras is sweeping across America. These automated license plate readers capture images of passing vehicles, recording license plates, locations, and timestamps that police can search to investigate crimes. Yet recent controversies have uncovered cases of police officers allegedly misusing the cameras to stalk former romantic partners, while questions about data-sharing practices and access by federal immigration authorities have fueled fears of government overreach and mass surveillance and led hundreds of communities to take action, with 93 cities discontinuing their Flock camera programs in August alone.

Those in favor of keeping the cameras argue they are a valuable crime-fighting tool, helping law enforcement identify stolen vehicles, locate suspects, find missing persons, and solve crimes more efficiently. They contend that monitoring vehicles on public roads is a legitimate investigative practice and isolated cases of misconduct shouldn't outweigh its public safety benefits.

Those calling for their removal argue that the documented abuses reveal fundamental dangers in allowing authorities to track people's movements without a warrant or individualized suspicion. They warn that interconnected camera networks can enable surveillance of ordinary citizens, and the potential for misuse is not an isolated flaw but an inherent risk of creating such an expansive infrastructure.

As city councils face mounting pressure to decide the cameras' fate, we debate: Should Cities Pull the Plug on Flock Cameras?

Robert Cahaly: "Silver Wave" Of Boomers, Older Gen-Xers Who Remember Berlin Wall, Iranian Hostage Crisis Are Way More Engaged In Election

Robert Cahaly, Trafalgar Group chief pollster, and Jim McLaughlin, McLaughlin & Associates partner and president, jpin FBN's Larry Kudlow to break down the skewed polls going into thw 2026 midterm elections.

"I used to think that this stuff was just incompetence on the part of these media polls, but I think just like their media coverage is biased against Republicans and conservative candidates, I think their polls are. They're undersampling Republicans, they're undersampling conservatives, and they get these crazy numbers," McLaughlin said.

"Is a poll designed to reflect the electorate, or is it now more focused on affecting the electorate," Cahaly said. "There's no excuse for some of this."

"A lot of it is their methodology. These guys insist on these 20- and 30-question polls. They're losing average people. They're never going to answer those."

"They're also sold on all these live callers," he said. "How many people do you know under 50 who are going to answer the phone from a number they don't know, verbally? It's pseudoscience."

LARRY KUDLOW: This New York Times/Siena poll, which has an 11-point Republican deficit, only 22% Republicans in this poll. How do they get to that?

JIM MCLAUGHLIN, MCLAUGHLIN & ASSOCIATES PARTNER AND PRESIDENT: It's pretty amazing. And by the way, only about 37% were actually Trump voters. Last I checked, Donald Trump got about half the vote in the last election, won all the battleground states overwhelmingly.

I used to think that this stuff was just incompetence on the part of these media polls, but I think just like their media coverage is biased against Republicans and conservative candidates, I think their polls are. They're undersampling Republicans, they're undersampling conservatives, and they get these crazy numbers.

Look, our last national survey, we had the Republicans down in the generic ballot. For the most part, President Trump's job approval rating has hovered around 50% of the vote, and that's nationally. That even includes California, New York, all those other bad places.

And the reason why he's out there right now is because these candidates want him out there, because President Trump is the guy that can turn out those 23 million Americans that voted for him that didn't vote for the Republicans in the last congressional election.

LARRY KUDLOW: Robert Cahaly, I want to get your take on that. By the way, as an offset to the Times/Siena poll, the TIPP poll came out. That's Raghavan Mayur. He's a good pollster. They have only a four-point deficit between the two, which is pretty close to what the McLaughlins have. And is this voter suppression, or how do you read this, Robert Cahaly?

ROBERT CAHALY, TRAFALGAR GROUP CHIEF POLLSTER: I think a lot of what is happening with these polls, Larry, is that, just like Jim said, the idea is, is a poll designed to reflect the electorate, or is it now more focused on affecting the electorate?

And there's no excuse for some of this. A lot of it is their methodology and the way they do it.

These guys insist on these 20- and 30-question polls. They're losing average people. They're never going to answer those.

They're also sold on all these live callers and stuff. How many people do you know, Larry, under 50 who are going to answer the phone from a number they don't know, verbally?

It's pseudoscience. It doesn't make any sense.

In some ways, it's just they refuse to accept the new way that polling must be done to get average people, and in other ways, you really do worry that bias is slipping through.

LARRY KUDLOW: Yes. Let's dig down into some of these issues, Jim McLaughlin. This business about traditional Republicans staying home, okay? Threat, non-threat?

I mean, I'm going to say every night, we have, I think, 13 shows left and a couple Sunday shows, do not go wobbly on me. You know what Victor Davis Hanson said, you might have some nits to pick, okay? You might have some 10% disagreements, but the big picture here is free enterprise versus socialism. It's having a country or having no borders. So how big a threat is this traditional Republican threat?

JIM MCLAUGHLIN: Look, you look at the poll. Our last national poll, President Trump has a 90% job approval rating with all Republicans. So he is the Republican Party. He is the conservative movement now. And what you're seeing with these people, I know that's a lot of these establishment Beltway types, they don't know what's going on in the real world.

They haven't figured out that President Trump's America First movement, that's where the Republican Party is. And the midterms are always about making sure you turn out your base, because you've got to make sure that these folks that don't normally show up, they only show up for President Trump in presidential elections, we've got to make sure they turn out this time.

And look, we've got some really good enemies to run against with these big-government and socialist Democrats that you and Newt have talked about. And I tell people all the time, I thought 2024 was the most important election in my lifetime. I've been doing this over 40 years. This midterm, we need to defy history. We need to keep the House, and we need to make sure that we keep the Senate.

LARRY KUDLOW: Robert Cahaly, how do you read this? Some people are saying, for example, in Texas, John Cornyn is not helping out Paxton because of disagreements, obviously, with Mr. Trump.

Now, I know John Cornyn. I happen to like him very much as a senator. He was a very strong Trump supporter in the Senate, but I think that's what some people are talking about. I think one of the Bush brothers came out today and said he was going to vote for Talarico, which I think is pure insanity, but is that kind of thing a problem?

ROBERT CAHALY: There's no doubt, Larry, there is a club, and Trump has kind of broken up their little club, and they want it back.

And a lot of them, just playing Lucy with the football and that, they're going to be difficult, some of them.

But just like Jim just said, it's more of the Beltway type that doesn't filter down as much as they want it to.

But it's a shame. They spent hundreds of millions of dollars beating up Paxton, and then all of a sudden now they've got to go fix the situation.

And it doesn't help to have these people act in this way, but the fact is they want the Trump era to be over, and they're going to do whatever it takes to try to sink it.

The difference is, does it go past a bunch of Beltway elites and people who are out of touch and filter down to the people, regular folks in Texas and other places?

Does it? I don't think it does, because what we're seeing now, and Matt Towery with InsiderAdvantage calls it the "silver wave," and we're seeing seniors way more engaged in this race, people, baby boomers, older, and even the older Xers.

And there's a few reasons.

One, they get motivated by all this stuff with socialism. They know what the two Germanys were like. They know what they looked like when the wall fell.

They remember a Cuba that was a paradise in the Caribbean, and they saw what socialism did there.

Also, that age group is much more likely to support Trump's policy in Iran. They remember the Iranian crisis and hostages, but they remember all the ayatollahs and the "death to America" and all the troops they were killing.

Last, they are least likely to be affected by gas prices. They drive less, and they don't drive-and they're motivated.

LARRY KUDLOW: Those are my folks. Those are my peers. I'll fess up. Has the enthusiasm in polls turned up? Point number one.

And point number two, I'd like the president to end with his optimistic vision of a golden future for America.

I agree with the [unclear] threat, and I think it's important that he makes that point, but I'd like him to give people an optimistic ending to this thing.

I mean, we still have two weeks left.

JIM MCLAUGHLIN: That's who Donald Trump is. He's the guy of hope. He's the guy of optimism.

He's the one that says nobody can beat American business. Nobody can beat the American military.

And look, we've seen that uptick since the Democrats have been nominating these socialists across the country.

Our folks, and just like what Robert was just talking about, we're seeing it, especially with older voters now. They're coming out to the polls in droves.

Sean Trende: If Democrats Win 15 House Seats With This Map, That's A Wave

RCP elections analyst Sean Trende told "The Julie Mason Show" on SiriusXM's POTUS channel the reasoning behind his "Levee Math" presentation on how the reduction in truly competitive House districts makes it incredibly rare for either party to flip seats deep in the other party's territory, and new polls for ten House races.

"We've found over time that we hit a wall in these wave elections, that tends to rise up around solid Trump +10 seats or their equivalent on the Democratic side," he said. "And the truth is this time, because of gerrymandering, there just aren't that many seats left in the competitive category."

"I'm not saying it is impossible, I'm saying it is extraordinary."

"Could this be the year they break the tradition and break through into Trump +10, +12, +18 level seats. But doing that would be truly extraordinary, and that should frame how we discuss the election," Trende said.

"I almost feel like if Democrats pick up 15 seats and like three Senate seats, people are going to ask what happened to the wave and be disappointed," he said. "If the Democrats win the popular vote by eight points on this map, and get 15 seats -- that's extraordinary. That's really good for them!"

"So many of these Senate races are so close that Democrats could have between 48-54 seats, but given how bad the maps are for them, it's shocking we're even talking about this as a possibility," he said.

Kara Swisher: Elon Musk Should Be Worried About Congress, "Under Kamala Harris, He Might Be In Jail"

Why is Elon Musk pouring hundreds of millions into Republican campaigns, and what is he afraid will happen if Democrats regain power? Kara Swisher joins Catherine Rampell to explain Musk's increasingly desperate alliance with Trump, how Silicon Valley billionaires are buying political influence, and why Big Tech's loyalty to MAGA may have an expiration date. Plus, Swisher dishes on JD Vance, her surprising new partnership with Hillary Clinton, and why she's walking away from CNN.

KARA SWISHER: Under Kamala Harris, he might be in jail right now, right? He is correct. And that's not because of she's some avenging fury. It's because there's a lot of questions around different companies of his. So if Donald Trump loses the House and the Senate, I would worry. I'd be worried if I were him, you know, no matter how rich he is.

There were all these agencies, some of which he put a knife in and killed in the DOGE, many of whom were investigating him. He stopped like a half a dozen investigations of his various companies. So they're going to start investigating again. You think he's not on the list?

He's at the top of that list. Donald Trump obviously is at the top in his family... And you have to, he knows what's coming. Like he's not stupid. Like of all the many things you can say about him is he has a very big sense of fate.
And I think it's coming for him and real hard.

Bevan: If Republicans Turn Out, They're Going To Win A Lot Of These Races

RealClearPolitics' Tom Bevan on 'Special Report,' explained that both Democrats and Republicans see the midterms as turning out the base. Neither party is focused on independents and moderates:

TOM BEVAN: This is a base election. And she is speaking directly to Progressive voters in Maine. Just like Donald Trump is flying around and speaking directly to Maga voters in all of these red states. There are six Senate races right now that are under 2 points or less in a our RealClearPolitics average. Trump won five of them. Four of them by double digits. If Republicans turn out, they're going to win a lot of these races. That's the strategy that Donald Trump and the Republicans are playing right now. Meanwhile, Democrats are trying in Michigan and Maine and other opportunities are trying to activate their base. There is not a whole lot going on trying to play to the middle and win over the independent at this point.

Marc Elias: Voters May Stay Home Because They Fear The Trump Administration's Intimidation

Democrats are suing the Trump Administration to stop any election interference by the DOJ or DHS ahead of November's midterms. Marc Elias, Chair of Elias Law Group, is helping to lead that charge and joined Thursday's broadcast of "The Weeknight" on MS NOW.

HOST: Marc, something that we have seen now move forward is this idea of intimidation. And we had the noted civil rights lawyer Damon Hewitt on earlier this week who was talking about the intimidation that this administration is doing to mixed status households. So that if I'm 18, 19 years old, I'm a legal U.S. resident and I have the ability to vote, but maybe my mom or dad, they don't have full legality, they're undocumented. It seems like the administration is moving towards causing them some consternation. I want to put up on the screen a new report from CBS News, quote, feds door knocking to find possible non-citizen voters. Federal agents knock on doors to track down possible non-citizen voters ahead of the midterms.

Armed and in uniform, federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security have been knocking on doors in several states to ask residents about their immigration status and to inquire if they have to register to vote or cast votes in past elections. A CBS News investigation has learned. React to that because that to me is very troubling.

You have federal agents armed, most likely knocking on doors, inquiring about immigration status when you often have people who are in those homes who very well could be legal voters. It is sending out a signal, hey, maybe don't vote and nothing bad will happen to mom or dad.

MARC ELIAS, DEMOCRATIC ATTORNEY: Yeah, I think it goes beyond mixed status households. I mean, look, we have people who don't vote because the weather is bad. We have people who don't vote because they can't take off time from work.

I mean, there are going to be some number of people who are totally U.S. citizens, and they don't have a legal concern in the world. But a bunch of people with badges and guns show up on their doorstep and start asking them about voting. Like, they may just say, like, you know what, it's not worth the trouble.

Like, it's just not worth the trouble for me to do this, whether it's for me or my family or my brother-in-law, whether it's because of immigration status or something else. Like, this is an administration that knows that it can intimidate. It intimidated big law firms to sit on the sidelines and not be involved in protecting voting and civil rights.

It has right now trying to intimidate election workers and election officials. You know, one of the things that people need to understand that's going on in a lot of these cases is the intimidation is not aimed at the voters. They're literally threatening election workers with indictment.

They're threatening, you know, secretaries of state and county officials with with aiding and abetting felony charges. Right. So, yes, they are also intimidating voters, because the only thing this administration knows how to do is to intimidate.

And so when you see Todd Blanche say, you know, maybe we will, maybe we won't. Like, people get it. Like, he indicted a guy for putting a picture of seashells on a website.

He indicted James for, as best I could tell, literally for nothing. Like for as close to for nothing as you can have and still have there be an indictment. So there are just a lot of people who like they just don't want the trouble.

You know what I mean? They just don't want to be have to, you know, have been riding their bicycle. The next thing you know, they get indicted for, you know, slashing a poor, poor, you know, reflecting bomb that they didn't slash.

Kamala Harris: The Era Of Feeling Powerless Over The Brutality We've Witnessed Is Over

Former Vice President Kamala Harris rallied with Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford and U.S. Rep. Dina Titus at the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 headquarters in Las Vegas this week. Harris said the feeling of powerlessness and hopelessness people have experienced over the past year and a half is coming to an end as Election Day approaches.

FORMER VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: But here's what I have to say, 13 days before the election. Whereas for the last year and a half we've been feeling all those emotions, that era, that era of feeling powerless, like what can we do, this just keeps happening, that era is over because we are now 13 days away from doing something about it to stop the pain. Because we've all felt like, what can we do about this?

Feeling alone and the hopelessness that comes from feeling alone, and the loneliness and the powerlessness that comes from the kind of brutality we've been witnessing. But now, because we still are in a country that puts the power back with the people, this is the moment where the power of the people reigns, where the power of the people leads. That power demonstrated by what 226 always done, knocking on doors, texting, organizing, reminding people we're in it together.

That's power, that's pure power. The people benefited from that work. People look, you may not be a union member, you better thank a union member. You better thank a union member for paid leave, you better thank a union member for vacation.

Trump: Ilhan Omar Has "Openly Admitted To Fraud" And Is Not Legally Permitted To Serve In Congress

President Trump on Thursday at a campaign rally in Iowa questioned the legality of Rep. Ilhan Omar's status as a member of Congress and a U.S. citizen. Trump also called on Speaker Mike Johnson to revoke her Congressional membership.

"The Democrat Party has just conceded her seat," Trump said. "That Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name is, openly admitted to fraud and she will not be legally allowed to be a member of that body any longer. She won't be able, I mean, I don't know. If you get sworn in with a false name, I would imagine that's pretty tough to remain."

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: It was just revealed just a little while ago that Ilhan Omar, not a person I've ever been particularly fond of, that her name is not Ilhan Omar, the one that she used to get elected and sworn into Congress. In other words, she used the name Ilhan Omar, but rather it's an entirely different name. Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. slightly different than Ilhan.

And I don't know if you heard this also. Have you people heard this? Have you heard this, Ashley?

And the last name is incredibly also the exact last name of her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the person that they say she married and had children with. Are you allowed to do that, Jeff? Are you allowed to do that?

I don't think so. Joni, I don't know. You're an expert.

Are you allowed to do that, Joni? When asked whether or not she married her brother today, they asked her, did you marry your brother? She said, not to my knowledge.

That's one of the worst answers I think I've ever heard. You know, I've heard some bad political answers. I could go over a lot of them, but that would be about the worst.

Not to my knowledge. I don't think so. Did you have children with your brother?

I'm not sure. She didn't know whether or not she married her brother. She wasn't sure.

So it's not looking good because she used a fake name to be sworn in. I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress. So please inform our great Speaker of the House of Representatives, James Michael Johnson.

I bet you didn't know that James was there, right? I just thought it was very classy. I was going to use it.

He's great. He's a great guy too. That the Democrat Party has just conceded her seat.

That Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name is, openly admitted to fraud and she will not be legally allowed to be a member of that body any longer. She won't be able, I mean, I don't know. If you get sworn in with a false name, I would imagine that's pretty tough to remain.

What do you think the chairman of our party? What do you think? You got two chairman's nation.

I don't think, I don't think it's looking too good. The Republicans have just picked up a seat in the house. Now she's been a scammer.

She's been a scammer for a long time. I'm pretty good at watching that stuff. And she's been a scammer for a long time.

You know, she comes from a non-country basically. Somalia has no government, has no nothing, all they do is run around shooting each other. Then she comes over here.

The constitution gives me absolute right to freedom of speech. She's telling us about, she's going to fix up our country. She comes from probably the worst country on earth.

There are a couple of pretty bad ones. I'd say that's right there. How about what they've done destroying Minnesota?

🚨 LMAO! Donald Trump just responded to Ilhan Omar saying "not to my knowledge" about marrying her brother and it's pure gold:

"That statement tells you a lot."

RCP Podcast: Republicans on Defense, Dead Heat Senate Races, Virginia Democrat 'Boss' Indicted

Thursday on the RealClearPolitics podcast, Carl Cannon, Tom Bevan, and Andrew Walworth discuss a spicy debate in the Michigan Senate race and the Kansas Senate race remaining unexpectedly close.

RCP elections analyst Sean Trende joins the show to discuss a new poll of ten House races and the razor-thin Senate race in Texas. He also gives us a few more races to watch early on election night and discusses the polling industry in general.

Listen live weekdays at 11:00 a.m. Eastern on SiriusXM's Megyn Kelly Channel 111, or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or other platforms.

00:00 - Opening: Spicy Michigan Senate Race

Walworth, Cannon, and Bevan discuss the spicy final Michigan Senate debate last night and how the race looks with less than two weeks to go. The panel asks if Rogers connecting El-Sayed to the Muslim Brotherhood is effective -- or desperate.

"Mike Rogers comes across as a little desperate for playing this Muslim Brotherhood card," Trende said. "But if he's already losing, then what difference does it make if it backfires?"

08:55 - Kansas Senate Race Dead Heat

The panel turns to the unexpectedly competitive Senate race in Kansas, where Republican Sen. Roger Marshall and Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton debated rising fuel costs, the Ukraine war, and their political independence last night. Could Kansas elect its first Democratic senator since 1932?

"If Republicans turn out, Marshall is going to win," Tom Bevan said. "If they sit on their hands, Marshall will lose."

"Hamilton will have to convert a huge number of triple-Trump voters to vote for him in order to make the sale here," Trende added.

19:45 - Dems Leading in Trump +10 Districts

RCP senior elections analyst Sean Trende discusses new polling conducted with Emerson College in 10 competitive House districts, including some Trump won by double digits in 2024, and his new Substack: "Poll Vault"

Poll Vault:

Trende says the results in many of these districts suggest Democrats could win more than 30 seats in the House. "We found the Democrats leading in almost all of them," he explained. "You lose seats slowly and then all at once, once that Trump +10 threshold gets breached."

23:05 - Talarico and Paxton Tied

New Fox News and Emerson College polls show the Texas Senate race between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico virtually tied. Will reluctant GOP voters show up to lift Paxton over the finish line? A small group of libertarian-leaning Republican voters may decide the outcome.

RCP Average: 2026 Texas Senate - Paxton vs. Talarico | Talarico +1.5

"They may not like Paxton, but they're going to hold their nose and go vote for him," Bevan predicted. "But this race is going to be about as tight as you could possibly be."

"If it comes down to your feeling for things, that's hard to measure, and my guess is many of those people will end up being nonvoters," said Cannon.

29:20 - What Does Early Voting Really Tell Us?

Sean Trende again warns against drawing broad conclusions from early-vote totals, explaining that partisan turnout patterns differ across states and may reflect changing campaign strategies rather than the ultimate election result.

"Democrats are worried about Trump messing with the mail and aren't going to vote by mail early like they have in the past," Sean Trende said. "Republicans were pushed by the Trump campaign to vote early in 2024. Maybe they'll revert to Election Day. No one knows."

"I tell myself, don't go out on Twitter. Don't make prognostications about it, because even the fact that you have everything pointing different ways should be a warning sign."

30:55 - Races to Watch on Election Day

Sean Trende previews the election-night bellwethers he'll be watching, including Kentucky's 6th District and Virginia's 1st, 2nd, and 5th districts.

"How those get called, how quickly they get called, I think will tell us a lot about the type of night it is," he said.

With Democrats narrowly leading several crucial Senate races, Republicans are hoping polling errors could once again work in their favor. Sean Trende explains why such a miss is possible but almost impossible to predict. And debacles like Wedgewood's fake polls add another layer of confusion.

36:25 - Powerful Virginia Democrat Indicted

The episode ends with the indictment of Virginia state Sen. Louise Lucas on federal bribery and racketeering charges. Virginia resident Carl Cannon describes Lucas as an influential political boss with enemies inside her own party. Is this another example of political lawfare or a legitimate corruption investigation?

"This is a case that actually started under the Biden administration, and they got an indictment from a grand jury on October 14," Bevan reminds us.

"She's like the de facto governor," Cannon explained. "She's like the boss, old-style machine party boss of Virginia, a state that doesn't have strong political parties."

"So she's made a lot of enemies in the party, but people are kind of afraid of her and they don't speak against her publicly very often," he said. "Having said that, I don't know how we can take lawfare off the table."

Vance: "This Democrat Party, It Needs An Ass Kicking"

Vice President JD Vance delivers remarks at a midterm rally in North Platte, Nebraska on Thursday.

VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE: Ladies and gentlemen, I just want to say one more thing, which is that I need a favor. And that favor, no, sir, let's focus on the election we got ahead of us. What we got here, ladies and gentlemen, is that we have a Democrat Party, and I'll give you a little secret.

I actually wish they weren't so crazy. I was raised, a lot of you know this, by Union Democrats, by a steel worker who spent 40 years of his life working at a weld shop at a steel mill, the same kind of people that you know, salt of the earth, patriotic, they love this country. To him, the Democrat Party was the party of Franklin Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy.

You may not agree with it on tax policy, but it was a party of patriotic human beings. That is not what we have in today's Washington, D.C. We have a party of people who talk about men and women's sports. We have a party of people who look down on the Mary Jo's and the Billy Bobs of this state. We have a party of people who are so focused on insanity that they have forgotten how to represent the people who built the United States of America. This Democrat Party, ladies and gentlemen, it needs an ass kicking.

AOC: DOJ And FBI Are Being Weaponized, And Their Leaders Must Be Investigated On Day One

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) campaigned for Maine Democratic Senate candidate Troy Jackson on Thursday.

REP. ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ (D-NY): First and foremost, everything that we are seeing unfold right now is an absolute weaponization of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, point blank period. And I want to zoom out, you know, if you're having a conversation with someone that isn't sure about the details of what's happening in the news and whatnot, just know that it has been standing practice in order to protect the integrity of our elections that the FBI and the DOJ do not take actions like these within a certain time frame of an election, regardless of what is happening in any circumstance of an investigation.

And so the very fact that this is happening in October and September tells you, period, that these agencies have been weaponized and compromised. So what we have to do, whether it's this, whether it's the corruption that we've seen with crypto and the ballroom and all of these things, is that we've known that Kash Patel has purged the FBI of many serious investigators. We've known that the Department of Justice has also been weaponized in its absolute groundless indictments of everyone from Tish James to Jerome Powell and so on and so forth.

Day one, we need to be opening investigations into the heads of every single one of these agencies, and we need to hold them accountable. I'm talking subpoenas. I'm talking investigations. I'm talking, if necessary, and if the evidence leads us there, to court. Because I don't care if you are a criminal on Main Street or a criminal on Pennsylvania Avenue. Everyone must be held to the same standard and rule of law. And we will never get our country back if we allow criminals to have cabinet seats in the United States of America. Oh, goodness. Thank you.

Schweizer: The Immigration Questions Ilhan Omar Dodged for a Decade

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is under investigation for potential immigration fraud that could have major consequences, and Senator Slotkin of Michigan is warning Republicans not to work for Trump, or they might be investigated, asks Peter Schweizer. Is this political targeting? Is it all the same?

Two current cases prompt the question of how to tell the difference between a legitimate investigation of a politician for possible crimes or malfeasance, and the deliberate targeting of political opponents.

First, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, a left-wing Democrat and member of the progressive Squad, is being investigated for possible immigration crimes by the Department of Homeland Security. Federal agents executed a search warrant ordered by a federal judge at her Washington, DC home on Monday. Omar has been dogged for more than a decade by allegations that her age was misstated when she became a naturalized US citizen in 2000, and that she married her own brother in 2009 solely to get him a visa to come to the US from Great Britain.

And, over the weekend, Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) went viral for comments that appeared to suggest she wants to prosecute people who simply work for or have worked for the Trump administration should Democrats regain majority in Congress next month. The clip, from an interview with Vox, showed her encouraging young people who are leaving school to think twice before going to work for the Trump administration. I want them to be like, 'Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don't want. So let me avoid participating in that,' Slotkin told her interviewer.

Are these both just cases of investigating real wrongdoing? Or are they both just attempts to intimidate political opponents by litigating them to death? The newest episode of The Drill Down explains it all.

Schweizer and co-host Eric Eggers, who is in San Diego where he is guest-hosting Dan Ball's OAN program this week, begin with the Omar story, which they have both researched.

Eggers notes, there are legitimate congressional disclosure questions about Omar's finances, significant fluctuations in her net worth, and a winery that her husband owns. Those are all potentially violations of House of Representatives ethics rules, but Omar has lately been defended by Democratic heavyweights.

The person leading this charge, by the way, is Barack Obama, former president of the United States, who tweeted out that Ilhan Omar is being targeted because of her political views by Donald Trump, Schweizer says. There's a rich irony there, given we now know that in December of 2016, Obama basically weaponized the Steele Dossier to target his own political opponent – Donald Trump.

However, the DHS investigation is likely about Omar's immigration problems. Schweizer notes a 2016 City Journal story, after she was elected to the state legislature, noting that she had never legally married her first husband (they were married in an Islamic ceremony), and she had in 2009 married a man named Ahmed Nur Said Elmi who may be her biological brother.

What's interesting about that is that there have never been firm answers to the specific allegations that have been made, Schweizer says. He noted a recent report in the Washington Post that in 2019 her now second ex-husband Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, applied for permanent residency through his marriage-based green card, immigration authorities asked for more information about the validity of his marriage, and he withdrew the application.

There is also the question about her age when she was naturalized. Her father claimed she was 17 when he became a citizen in 2000, but her original documents suggested she was born in 1981, not 1982. If she was 18, however, she would have to apply separately, and it's totally different, says Schweizer. This is not a minor issue, just like the question about whether she married her brother to help him get status in the United States. These are very specific questions on immigration forms, and it happens thousands of times every year that people are deported because they lied about very important specific material things.

What I think is appalling about Obama's statement is that these are all simple questions, Schweizer says. It's been going on for a decade, and she has never answered the questions. She's charged 'racism.' She's sneered. She said this is bigoted. She's never answered these questions, but they're legitimate questions.

After Eggers notes that federal investigators obtained physical evidence from her home, Schweizer speculates the reason Obama spoke up.

Obama tends to be very cautious on these things. He operates behind the scenes as we all know, but it's very rare for him to step up in a controversy like this and try to lay down the law, Schweizer says. So, it indicates to me that they [Democrats] are frankly concerned that there actually is fire behind the smoke.

Smoke, however, works as a descriptor of vague threats to unnamed executive branch employees who work for your political opponents. Which brings the show back to Sen. Elissa Slotkin's comments. Trump responded in his typically subtle way by calling her a lowlife.

This is political targeting, because [Slotkin] is preemptively saying, 'I want to deter you (her words) from going and working for certain political figures. And I'm going to do that by threatening you with legal action,' Schweizer says.

I'm not saying there aren't instances where Republicans have targeted Democrats, or that there are instances where Democrats have legitimately raised questions about Republicans, he says. We need to have those checks and balances built into our system.

Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen anybody on the political left denounce what she said, he adds.

The hosts note a recent Fox News survey that found 88 percent of the American people are concerned about corruption in the government, which Schweizer says is the highest he's ever seen.

Schweizer says that at the Government Accountability Institute, we are big believers in transparency, and it doesn't matter if you're Republican or Democrat. However, he thinks we should be adult enough in this country to be able to parse out legitimate inquiries and investigations as opposed to just trying to throw the book at somebody and hoping you're going to hit them.

Megyn Kelly: Ilhan Omar's Answer About Her Alleged Marriage To Her Brother Was "A Very Obvious Lie"

Megyn Kelly criticizes Ilhan Omar's response to MS NOW host Chris Hayes when he asked her about allegations that she married her brother, arguing that her answer, "Not to my knowledge," was evasive. Kelly also accuses Hayes of failing to press Omar on the issue.

MEGYN KELLY: Ilhan Omar went on with Chris Hayes on MS Now last night and what a debacle, holy cow. The principal question or at least one of the very principal questions in the case was posed to her messily, pathetically, poorly by Chris Hayes in his level best effort to diminish the whole story, and she couldn't answer it with a straight answer. It's unbelievable.

He did ask her about her brusband, one of the longstanding allegations that she married her biological brother who'd been living in the UK in an attempt to get him a green card. This is the same guy who did get married to her, got a temporary green card, and then decided to apply for a permanent green card. And when immigration authorities started asking questions about his marriage to what they believed was a U.S. citizen, Ilhan Omar, he withdrew the application. That same guy, Chris Hayes, did his level best to give her a complete pass on it. But clearly he knew he would be an absolute laughingstock if he didn't raise it. It was truly the only substantive exchange of the entire half an hour interview.

He completely fell down on the job. That's another thing which I'll get to in a second. But here in his one meager, pathetic attempt at journalism, he raises the issue of the brusband and she completely whiffed it.

Watch this.

CHRIS HAYES: There are right-wing people who believe that this man was your brother. You have called it a disgusting lie. Who was this man that was your husband? When did they start saying that he was your brother? Why?

REP. ILHAN OMAR (D-MN): I started with a Somali blog that I don't know if it still exists, but somebody put in there that he had to have been my brother or something to that effect. And right-wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it and they just kind of went and found random people who were like, she introduced us. She introduced him to us and said he was her brother, which is, you know, insane. I mean, I don't know those people that they talk about.

HAYES: He was not, you were not related to him at all?

OMAR: Not that I know of.

HAYES: There's not some weird kernel of truth that's through some game of telepathy?

HAYES: Not to my knowledge.

HAYES: That was the big gotcha. Right. In terms of what you're talking about promising. Like we're going to nail her on the marriage.

OMAR: Yeah.

HAYES: That was the source of the immigration fraud. That no longer seems to be the issue that they are putatively investigating. Right.

KELLY: Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Not to my knowledge. That's unbelievable. I mean, that's literally unbelievable. There's a reason she phrased it that way.

She is trying to avoid criminal liability. That's why she said that knowing is an element of the crime that she's potentially looking at their statute of limitations or not to prove that she knew he was her relative would be an element of the crime. And she's clearly told the federal investigators that it's not to her knowledge that she married her brother, which is her only escape, because she very much did, according to all of the evidence that has been assembled by very strong reporters like Scott Johnson of Powerline and our friend from Alpha News the other day, like the evidence appears overwhelming that she married her brother.

And now when the cameras are on her. That's the best she can come up with...

KELLY: And the reason she had to wiggle as opposed to just say no is because of the criminal liability, because of the law. But before she was facing federal raids and a potential arrest and her sister's phone and her phone being in the hands of the DOJ, she was giving different answers. She was more explicit, clearly between a month ago and now she's been briefed by a legal team on her exposure because Lindell, you know, Mike Lindell of MyPillow fame, he has his little like TV outlet and he has reporters who go to Capitol Hill and ask questions and so on.

And one of them asked Ilhan Omar last month, September of 2026, if she married her brother and listened to what she said.

LINDELL TV: Can you just tell us straight up, did you marry your brother?

OMAR: Absolutely not. What a ridiculous thing to ask.

Did you marry your brother?

LINDELL TV: Absolutely not.

OMAR: Absolutely not. That's disgusting. Nobody should be doing that.

LINDELL TV: Why are you being criminally investigated?

OMAR: I am not.

LINDELL TV: Yes, you are.

OMAR: I am not.

LINDELL TV: Well, then Tom Homan's a liar or what?

OMAR: He is. He's been saying some dumb sh*t. Like you.

LINDELL TV: Oh, thank you, Congresswoman.

KELLY: Good job to that reporter and to Lindell TV. Absolutely not. That's disgusting.

That is what we call in the deception detection business, a convincing statement. And it's problematic and it's a tell that you're a liar. As Phil Houston, you guys know, he and I go way back.

We've had him on the show many times. He's the human lie detector, CIA, 25 years, discovering double agents working against the United States for half of it and discovering double agents within the CIA at Langley for the other half. He wrote the books by the lie, have taken his class many times.

One of the main indicators of deception. Is convincing statements. Megyn Kelly, did you marry your brother?

No, no. I married Doug Brunt. No relation.

What? Seriously, think about it, you guys. Would you then feel the need to ask that's disgusting in the high inflection?

Would you feel the need to convince someone that it's disgusting to marry your sibling? You would not. You would say no.

Nope. Watch. Watch it again.

LINDELL TV: Can you just tell us straight up, did you marry your brother?

REP. ILHAN OMAR: Absolutely not.

KELLY: OK, so that's disgusting. Nobody should be doing that. Again, it's a convincing statement.

And then the third indicator of deception there is he's a dumb bitch like you. Attacking aggression against the questioner and attacking the questioner and the questioner. These are classic signs of deception.

Trust me, I know Phil Houston very well. I know his course material very well. I've sat for hours, I mean, almost 20 hours in his classes.

It's called a cluster. The signs of deception have to happen within the first five seconds of when the question was asked. And they did.

The high pitched inflection, the that's disgusting, a convincing statement. Nobody should be doing that. A convincing statement and attacking the questioner and the question.

He's a dumb shit like you. OK. This is classic lying.

That's what we just saw there. And now listen to her in the Chris Hayes interview where she's clearly been briefed by lawyers. Watch.

CHRIS HAYES: There are right wing people who believe that this man was your brother. You have called it a disgusting lie. Will you? Who was this man that was your husband? When did they start saying that he was your brother? Why?

REP. ILHAN OMAR: It started with the Somali blog that I don't know if it still exists, but somebody put in there that, you know, that he had to have been my brother or something to that effect. And right wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it and they just kind of went and found random people who were like, she introduced us, you know, she introduced him to us and said he was her brother, which is, you know, insane. I mean, I don't I don't know those people that they talk about.

He was not you were not related to him at all.

HAYES: Not that there's not a kernel of truth that through some game.

OMAR: Not to my knowledge.

KELLY: So it is a felony to lie to federal investigators. And she clearly told them that it's she didn't marry her brother to her knowledge. And she's trying not to tell a new lie because if you lie to federal investigators, it's a felony.

She's trying not to do that because she doesn't want to rejigger the five year statute of limitations on on perjury, on lying. To federal investigators, which they've gotten, you know, that's what they got Mike Flynn on. So she's got to stick with that new story, not to my knowledge, when she's sitting across from MSNBC's Chris Hayes, it's as plain as the nose on your face.

It is a very obvious lie. I'm going to get to Chris Hayes in a minute. I don't want to forget I'm making a note to come back to him.

There's a reason we included his non follow up in the exchange that we just showed you. OK, back to him in a second. But this let's stay over the target.

Ilhan Omar did marry her brother. She did. And there is overwhelming evidence of this.

OK, first, let me refer you back to. Our guest, Preah Samson Dar, formerly of Alpha News, who was just on the program the other day. She was here on Tuesday.

She's one of the three reporters who's been owning the Omar story for the past 10 years, 10 years. OK. Scott Johnson is the other one.

And David Steinberg of Powerline, the latter two are with Powerline for the past 10 years. So these are the people who know more about this than anyone. And Preah told us, remember, on Tuesday when she was with Alpha News in 2016, she discovered the brother, the Bresbin's resume online, and she tracked him down via email and asked him about his marriage to his sister, Ilhan Omar.

And his response on the record in an email was, she reported, quote, No way am I affiliated with anyone in your articles, nor do I recall being married to anyone, at least from what I remember.

Bevan: Why RealClearPolitics Steered Clear Of Fake Polling Firm Wedgewood

RealClearPolitics co-founder Tom Bevan discusses the fake polling firm Wedgewood and explains why RCP avoided its polling, even as other outlets reported its numbers.

DANA PERINO: Let's get to this story. It's getting a lot of attention, there's growing fallout over fake polls. Democrats are angry at a firm that admitted to making up surveys that boosted far left candidates. The outlets that ran those numbers are now doing some damage control.

Tom Bevan is co-founder and editor at RealClearPolitics. I wanted to bring this up to you because here's two headlines, two recent instances. L.A. Times in August said, "Polls showing Bass leading Nithya Raman by double digits was bogus, the company said."

"FiftyPlusOne just caught a pollster faking data, and they copped to it."

Wedgewood said, "We just wanted to test a simple hypothesis. How easy is it for an entirely fabricated polling firm to gain traction?"

The New York Times was one of those outlets, Tom, that factored in this poll to their average, and they said yesterday, "We've removed those polls Tuesday night and published an editor's note that said it had included them, 15 in all, after the pollster answered a series of detailed questions from the Times about the pollster's identities, methods, and funding."

But Tom, that was after the fact.

TOM BEVAN, REALCLEARPOLITICS CO-FOUNDER AND EDITOR: Yeah, everybody seemed to include these. We did not. They were never in any of our RealClearPolitics averages, and we have a very sort of stringent method for, it often takes years. We like to see these pollsters because, Dana, every year, every cycle now, there are these pollsters that pop up out of nowhere, and they get involved and produce numbers in key battleground state races, Senate, Governor, House races, and they try and influence the narrative. And so, we're pretty strict about who we let in.

It often takes years before we'll let someone in our RealClearPolitics average for exactly this reason. And so, both of these companies said, well, we're just doing social experiments. Well, when were they going to let people know that? And as you point out, in some cases, damage was done, particularly in this case, on the Democratic side.

DANA PERINO: Do we know who was funding them?

TOM BEVAN: We do not yet, and I think a lot of people are eager to get to the bottom of that and find out whether it was, you know, whether it was a Democratic operation that was trying to influence the Democratic primaries, or perhaps it was a Republican operation, but we do not know the source of the funding for these polls. Some of them were crowdfunded, by the way.

DANA PERINO: Do you think, or have you seen any evidence that one of these polls would have changed the outcome of an election? So, for example, I know that in Michigan, in that primary, Mallory McMorrow, who dropped out of the race, said she was a victim of one of these polls.

TOM BEVAN: Yeah, there's no evidence that, I mean, especially if you're using them in an aggregate, I mean, they weren't that different, but to your point, Mallory McMorrow says her campaign, they released a poll showing that she had dropped down to the single digits, and she said it affected her fundraising, it affected her staff, she had people that were, you know, not eager to turn out for her, and she says it cost her that primary. Now, I mean, that's, you can argue that one way or another, but nevertheless, these polls were designed to influence and create narratives in these campaigns, and they certainly had some impact in that.

DANA PERINO: In the minute we have left, I want to ask you about Texas. We talked about Michigan Senate earlier on Texas. Right now, you have this race tied, but Talarico is down two points from September. Republicans are maintaining that they are closing well, that their voters are coming home and they feel better, especially on the financial side of things, but when you look at the Texas Senate race, how do you size it up?

TOM BEVAN: It does look like Paxton is closing and that Republican voters are coming home. The last three polls in this race, the Fox News poll had it tied, an Emerson poll had it Talarico up one, and another poll had Paxton up one, so it looks like this is going to be, go right down to the wire, and it's going to be very, very close.

DANA PERINO: Do you sleep at all these last two weeks before an election?

TOM BEVAN: Try to a little bit, but obviously this is our silly season, and so it's pretty much around the clock.

DANA PERINO: It's great. RealClearPolitics, Tom Bevan, thank you so much for being here.

TOM BEVAN: Thanks, Dana.

Will Cain: For El-Sayed, There Is No Other Motivation Than Islamophobia For Asking About The Muslim Brotherhood

FOX News host Will Cain delivers a monologue on Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed's outrage about being asked to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood.

"El-Sayed makes it clear, he thinks, in fact, you are an A-hole if you're asking because you're implying that he has dual loyalties," Cain said. "He assigns you motivation just for asking. He suggests you're asking because he's Muslim and therefore you're Islamophobic. To him, there's no other explanation, no other motivation."

WILL CAIN, FOX NEWS ANCHOR: Live from Texas, this is "The Will Cain Show."

Well, after days of being asked about his sympathy and connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdul El-Sayed finally gave a clear answer, with a follow-up question. "Are we good?"

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ABDUL EL-SAYED (D), MICHIGAN SENATORIAL CANDIDATE: Clearly disavowed it.

But here's the question. The implication of the question is that somehow I will have dual loyalties, right? And there's nothing about my history or record to imply that. So go ahead and watch where I clearly disavow. If it's not clear enough, I clearly disavow it. Are we good?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CAIN: Let's see. Are we good? I don't know. It makes me feel like I'm the A-hole for asking. And that, in fact, is exactly what's intended by Abdul El-Sayed.

The condescension drips off him like sweat in one of his workouts with his buddy Hasan Piker. His eye roll could literally turn back time. It's a style that many, even those on the left, like the Obama bros, are left wondering, are we good?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JON FAVREAU, HOST, "POD SAVE AMERICA": You have got to give the answer as if someone who might have a question about a Muslim Brotherhood tie is not necessarily like totally Islamophobic and like that kid or like Trump or like Mike Rogers, but like might have a question, and you don't want to -- and you don't want to condescend to that person or be like, no, you're a (EXPLETIVE DELETED) for asking, right?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CAIN: Right, which is why the whole "Are we good?" thing really undercuts him disavowing the Muslim Brotherhood in the first place. Why does every one of Abdul El-Sayed's answers seemingly come with an asterisk or a parenthetical or a brushback pitch?

How would you feel if you were asking your husband, who were you with last night? Why didn't you come home? Are you having an affair, and his answer was, I'm still married to you, are we good? It leaves you thinking, I don't know if we're good.

El-Sayed makes it clear, he thinks, in fact, you are an A-hole if you're asking because you're implying that he has dual loyalties. He assigns you motivation just for asking. He suggests you're asking because he's Muslim and therefore you're Islamophobic. To him, there's no other explanation, no other motivation.

To him directly, quoting us, this: "There's nothing in my history or record to imply that."

So let's examine his record and see if there could be any other motivation for the question.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

EL-SAYED: Despite the fact that I may be an immigrant of North Africa.

I am Arab. I'm also African. My family immigrated to this country from Egypt. I'm proud of my African heritage.

I carry dual citizenship, right? And I grew up spending most of my summers in another country.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CAIN: His campaign says he misspoke. He isn't actually a dual citizen. Common slip of the tongue. Who hasn't accidentally claimed dual citizenship?

A bit more difficult to explain, El-Sayed's half-sister expressing support for the Muslim Brotherhood, specifically and on multiple occasions, back in 2012 and 2013. And then, add to that the fact that he campaigned with, traveled with, attended pool parties with a guy who spews anti-American rhetoric with pretty alarming regularity.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HASAN PIKER, TALK SHOW HOST: It's laughable to say guys like myself, guys like Abdul El-Sayed, we hate America. I say I hate America all the time, OK? America deserved 9/11, dude. (EXPLETIVE DELETED). I'm saying it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CAIN: Not to mention, he equated Sharia law to canon law and circumcision to genital mutilation.

So, yes, the questions don't seem Islamophobic. They seem legitimate. The most pressing being, does he support the ideas of the Muslim Brotherhood?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR., U.S. HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SECRETARY: If you can't denounce the Muslim Brotherhood, something is really scary wrong with you. This is a terrorist organization. It's been banned in many, many countries. It's declared a terror organization here.

And one -- the Muslim Brotherhood has been repeatedly prosecuted after 9/11, et cetera, for involvement, for laundering funds, for involvement in terror attack and terror planning. And in the documents that have been recovered in those that -- multiple times -- in those investigations, they talk -- the Muslim Brotherhood talks about a strategy of entryism or gradualism, those are their words, to take over the United States and impose Sharia law.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CAIN: Entryism or gradualism to impose Sharia law.

For the record, I would expect any candidate for office in America to not only disavow the Muslim Brotherhood, but Sharia law. And it should not be hard. And the question should not be controversial.

Gutfeld: The Left Considers Any Act Of Noticing To Be, By Definition, Racist

FNC's Greg Gutfeld argued that the left treats observations about crime and immigration issues as racist or prejudiced on Wednesday's broadcast of "The Five."

GREG GUTFELD: Lawrence O'Donnell is the most amazing person at missing the humor in anything. That this was just a stick, and it was fun and silly, and it's also self-deprecating. He's talking about basically how out of shape he is by commenting on this guy in shape.

But also, Trump, you have to -- you have to understand. He is an extreme example of a pattern recognition machine. He's guided solely by his eyes and his ears. And when he sees something and he hears something, he can't help himself. You could go up to him and say, you know, according to the data, the subways have never been safer. And then he'll hear about somebody being shot on 53rd Street subway, and he'll go, that's not what I heard. No, it's bad. It's bad.

So, he's like, all humans are pattern recognition machines. He's just very, very, very vocal about the patterns that he sees, which is drives the left crazy because they're the opposite. They consider any act of noticing to be, by definition, racist, xenophobic. There's something wrong.

If you bring up the poorest border five years ago, that made you xenophobic. If you notice that most trans activist men look like creepy monsters. You're transphobic. If you start talking about crime, that's going to make you racist. If you notice anything, if you notice reality, then you shall be punished.

So, the idea is they replace your normal filter, especially with left wing women. They cannot notice reality, and that's what makes them so crazy. Is because they have this filter of distortion that they have to like deny things about family, security, finances, and then, you know, chase, you know, radicals around the country.

Egbewole: Democrats Should Be Wary Of Polling, Let's Not Believe We Have A Blue Tsunami Coming

On 'The Will Cain Show,' Democrat Strategist Yemisi Egebewole, said Democrats should be concerned of polling errors that might look different than final results and how polling changes campaigns:

WILL CAIN: Yemisi, every viewer watching this program right now remembers how bad the polling industry has been for well over a decade. Polls got it wrong in '16/ Polls got it wrong in '20. Polls got it wrong in 2022. Polls got it wrong in 2024. And that is bipartisan, sometimes promising Democrat wins, other times promising a red wave.

The point, I think, is what David says when polls begin to impact behavior.

YEMISI EGBEWOLE, DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST: Yes, and Mallory McMorrow makes a great point, that polling will also collapse the infrastructure of a campaign. She's right. When she dropped down to single digits, donors definitely left.

The energy collapsed from the campaign, and it felt like she was a distant third in the race against Stevens and El-Sayed. This same polling firm -- firm also predicted that Francesca Hong, who does not believe in Thanksgiving, was leading David Crowley.

And Francesca Hong cut an ad espousing that firm's findings. So nonserious candidates can also use very, very padded numbers to try to get ahead of real serious candidates. And it's great that David Crowley gets to run that race.

But Democrats should definitely be wary of polling. Let's not believe that we have a blue tsunami coming. Let's like dial it down to a trickle and people should still vote as if this is real.

Bill Ackman: Democratic Party Is In The Worst Place It's Ever Been, El-Sayed Is A "Quasi-Terrorist"

On "The Katie Miller Podcast," hedge fund investor Bill Ackman spoke about his political evolution away from the Democratic Party.

KATIE MILLER, HOST: What was the moment, if you can go back, that you were like, this has to change and I'm going to speak up? Was there a specific issue that just changed your mind? Or was it this slow-moving ideology over time?

BILL ACKMAN: I think it was more of a slow-moving and then rapidly accelerating perspective.

KATIE MILLER: Do you think that Democrats have lost their ability to connect with successful entrepreneurs and business leaders?

BILL ACKMAN: I think the Democratic Party is in the worst place it's ever been in the 250-year history of the country. I think it's become like this crazy radicalized, you know, anti-American thing. I think it's- and by the way, I think there's some very high quality Democrat senators and I'm sure some congressmen.

But the party itself, I think, is in a very bad place. And I think the problem with people who've chosen to be a politician for a career, you either have to get with the party in order to continue or you get primaried. You know, actually, Senator Schumer, I had a good relationship with him over the years.

I thought he was a good man. But in recent years, I felt he's just trying to keep his job. And, you know, that's the really low point for politicians when they'll compromise on their values and they'll support, you know, a quasi-terrorist perhaps running for senator in Michigan because they have to for the party.

Stuff like that to me is- or terrorist supporter is not a- I find that pretty deeply concerning.

KATIE MILLER: Do you think the establishment has become too afraid of its progressive wing?

BILL ACKMAN: Of course. By the way, that's where the energy of the party is. You know, energy being young people, people- I mean, social media in a way, because of the ability of young people to engage on social media and the later generations not knowing how to do so, it kind of energizes the youth in a way that makes them critically important.

So Madami's election, a successful win in New York, was driven by a young, white, educated, social media active cohort.

KATIE MILLER: Sure, but if you look at the flip side of it, you look at Spencer Pratt in LA, similar type energy, and it didn't land.

BILL ACKMAN: I liked him.

KATIE MILLER: Didn't land. Is there anyone on the left today who could convince you to vote Democrat again?

BILL ACKMAN: You know, I don't know who the candidate- who the party will put up for the candidate. Look, I've had a longstanding personal relationship with Cory Booker. Love the guy.

He's a wonderful human being. He's disappointed me occasionally, you know, but politically. But there's some- I don't actually choose my friends on the basis of their political party.

I probably have as many, if not more, friends who are Democrats than Republicans. But, you know, I haven't seen a good presidential candidate. Not- certainly none of the names, you know, Pritzker, Newsom, make your list of candidates. I think these are, you know, disasters.

Hillary Clinton: GOP Must Reinvent Itself After Trump, Purge Itself Of Everybody Who Lost Their Conscience

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton comments on the future of the Republican Party after President Trump in an interview with Kara Swisher.

KARA SWISHER: Right, right. But this longing for an independent party, I mean, you're a student of history, so am I. This idea that there should, that these parties are not working for Americans and there have been shifts in our country when this has happened.

Do you see that happening anytime soon?

FORMER SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY CLINTON: I can't see it happening anytime soon. I can see, you know, a very strong and, I hope, healthy debate within the Democratic Party between the center, the center left and the far left. Because as I've said over and over again, I think that does represent a full range of views in America.

The Republican Party is no longer a political party. It is a cult devoted to Trump and Trump's power. And so the Republican Party needs a total, you know, transformation.

And I think that's what the country really needs. If we're going to have a healthy government that actually gets things done and delivers for people, then the Republican Party has to purge itself of, you know, everybody who lost both their conscience and their backbone over the last 10 years. And that's most of them.

But if that doesn't happen, then I can see an independent effort within the Republican Party, frankly, on the center right to the, you know, non-crazy right, to try to reinvent itself after Trump.

KARA SWISHER: Right. And do you think that will happen? He has a hold on them, even with the declining ratings, right, as they're going down to the basement.

HILLARY CLINTON: It is unlike anything I ever thought we'd see in American politics. I mean, he has a hold on them out of, you know, maybe they believe him. Maybe they agree with him.

Maybe they're intimidated and scared of him. Maybe they're cynical and they just want to stay in power, whatever the reasons are. He has a grip on the Republican Party.

Now, it'll be interesting if we win the House and Senate. And if you vote for Democrats, we will win the House and the Senate, in my opinion. If we win, when we win, and we start trying to hold him accountable, I'm going to be interested to see which Republicans start moving back off the cult cliff into a more reasonable political position.

Rep. Ilhan Omar Denies That She Married Her Brother: "Not To My Knowledge"

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) spoke with MS NOW host Chris Hayes about allegations that she married her brother and an investigation into her immigration history.

CHRIS HAYES, MS NOW HOST: I'm trying to figure out the way to do this that doesn't sound like I'm insane. And I'm saying this up front because the president of the United States is one of the biggest bullhorns, right? And every time he talks about you, he will casually say something wild about you.

Like he will tweet, Ilhan Omar, she married her brother, blah, blah, blah. And you see that, you think to yourself, boy, that sounds odd. It seems unlikely that she would marry her brother.

There are right wing people who believe that this man was your brother. You have called it a disgusting lie. Who was this man that was your husband? When did they start saying that he was your brother?

Why?

REP. ILHAN OMAR (D-MN): It started with the Somali blog. I don't know if it still exists, but somebody put in there that, you know, that he had to have been my brother or something to that effect. And right wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it.

And they just kind of went and found random people who were like, she introduced us. She introduced him to us and said he was her brother, which is, you know, insane. I mean, I don't know those people that they talk about.

HAYES: You were not related to him at all?

OMAR: Not that.

HAYES: There's not a weird kernel of truth that's through some game.

OMAR: Not to my knowledge.

HAYES: That was the big gotcha, right? In terms of what you're talking about promising, like we're going to nail her on the marriage. That was the source of the immigration fraud.

That no longer seems to be the issue that they are putatively investigating, right? They've now moved on to whatever your representations your father made in his naturalization process about you. Is that your understanding?

OMAR: But it's also very convenient because my dad is no longer alive.

HAYES: Right.

OMAR: So it's another thing they can drag on forever.

HAYES: Right, because there's no -- because the person who signed the paperwork and did it all is no longer here to answer the charge.

OMAR: Right, even though they have the papers that he signed.

HAYES: Right.

OMAR: And like the people who knocked on my door searching for papers literally have his papers. They are the ones who processed us to come to the United States.

Hemingway: Democrats Blew Opportunity in Texas Nominating Someone Who Can Credibly Be Called "Talafreako"

FOX News contributor Mollie Hemingway discusses the U.S. Senate race in Texas on "Special Report."

MOLLIE HEMINGWAY: I think Democrats have every advantage this year in that Republicans control the White House, the Senate, and the House. And historically speaking, of course, that usually means that the out party has huge wins.

In this case, though, I think that Texas Democrats needed to nominate someone who can't credibly be called Talifrico because of his perspectives on various things. He said his most important issue he cares about is the transing of children. He wants taxpayer-funded abortion clinics, federally-funded abortion clinics. He says God is non-binary, that there are six genders. This would be difficult to elect in California. In Texas, I think it'll be way too difficult.

Sen. Slotkin Challenges Trump to Arrest Her: "Do It"

Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) delivers a video message responding to backlash over remarks she made at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics that critics said threatened young conservatives who want to get involved in politics.

SEN. ELISSA SLOTKIN (D-MI): Hi there, Senator Elissa Slotkin here in my office in downtown Detroit. Over the last few days, I've been the target of attacks from D.C. Republicans and right-wing media. It culminated in President Trump just a few hours ago in the Oval Office saying that I should be tried in court.

This time, it's because I dared to talk about the corruption coming out of the White House. This shouldn't be complicated. If you break the law or abuse taxpayer dollars, you should be held accountable, no matter who you are or who you work for.

If you haven't abused the law, then no problem. This is not the first time this President has tried to weaponize the justice system against me. At his direction earlier this year, the Department of Justice took me to a D.C. grand jury to have me criminally indicted for sedition. If President Trump had his way, I'd be in prison. Thankfully, an anonymous group of Americans I will never meet voted unanimously that all I was doing was exercising basic free speech. So I know from experience, when it comes to weaponizing the government, the President says what he means, and he means what he says.

Therefore, I'm prepared for his hand-picked Attorney General to salute this latest call to investigate me and do the President's bidding. Now, if you take a breath, this is all pretty crazy. A President from the Oval Office is weaponizing our justice system against an American who clearly gets under his skin.

If he can do it to me, he can do it to anyone. His supporters use a coordinated play to threaten, intimidate, and silence anyone who speaks up. It's a play to distract us from failed economy, high gas prices, and the disastrous war he started in Iran.

But if I've learned one thing from this past year, it's that you have to push back. These people threatening violence in jail do not represent the United States I believe in. It's not the America I love.

So if the President wants to investigate and arrest me, and even worse, as so many authoritarian leaders do with their political adversaries, then do it. It's gotten predictable at this point. But I'm not going to be intimidated out of standing up for the rule of law and the country that has given me everything.

James S. Robbins, dean of academics at the Institute of World Politics, joins the gang to discuss the latest on the wars in Ukraine and Iran, and whether these signal the end of the era of nuclear anti-proliferation.

Plus, a debate about inheritance taxes and an article profiling people who regret fleeing the U.S. to get away from Trump.

00:00 - Opening: Another Fake Poll

RealClearPolitics president Tom Bevan and senior elections analyst Sean Trende discuss the Wedgwood polling hoax and explain why RCP doesn't include "fly-by-night" polling scams like this.

"What does this have to do with the polling industry?" Washington editor Carl Cannon asked. "This wasn't a poll. It was a fraud. It was a hoax. It was a conspiracy. It was possibly criminal."

"We do a very serious and thorough vetting of every pollster, and sometimes it'll take years for them to get included in our average, only after they've polled over multiple cycles, and we can see a track record and verify their work," Bevan said.

Also: How much did their fake numbers impact real races, like the Michigan Democratic Senate primary? "But at the same time, I'm kind of like, if a single poll tanks your entire campaign, maybe it wasn't that great of a campaign to begin with," Trende added.

"It's a nasty, nasty, nasty piece of political work, but I think analysts are so turned off by it, I don't know how it's going to play," Sean Trende suggested. "I think there's a very real chance of a backlash, but I also think the people I see who are the most horrified by it are people who, if they lived in Ohio, would probably be Amy Acton voters to begin with."

Bill Clinton made one of the biggest federal pushes on crime in recent memory. Government auditors later concluded that his effort explained only a sliver of the drop in crime that followed. George W. Bush and Barack Obama both launched ambitious education initiatives, and test scores barely budged.

That isn't necessarily a sign that those presidents screwed up; it's a sign that they didn't have much power in the first place. Most crime is handled by state and local governments. Washington supplies only about a tenth of school funding.

The trouble is that the officials who do hold that power - district attorneys, school board members, city councils - mostly work out of view. Turnout is tiny, the local newspapers that hold them accountable are disappearing, and many of them run for office unopposed. Sometimes that ends in scandal. But it also creates an opportunity for citizens to make a tangible difference in their communities.

Thiessen: If Polls Are Just Slightly Off, "The Blue Wave Might Be Just As Evasive As The Red Wave Of 2022"

In an interview on "The Story" with Martha MacCallum, Marc Thiessen compared the upcoming midterms to the 2022 election, when predictions of a Republican red wave failed to materialize.

MARTHA MACCALLUM: Let's show this Trump midterm blitz graphic that we have here. So, Marc, I want to ask you about this. This is the 2020, 2024, no, the next one, the midterm blitz... So this shows 2024 presidential election results. These are some of the places that the president's going. Clemson in South Carolina. He won by 53 points. Sioux City, Iowa. He won by 23 points. Fort Myers, Florida. He won by 28 points.

So Marc Thiessen, what is the strategy here going to these places that the president won so resoundingly and that have historically been really easy territory for Republicans?

MARC THIESSEN: Yeah, so it's a bad news, good news story. The bad news is, is that all the swing states are Republicans are red states. It's places where Trump won overwhelmingly in 2024. And that's not good. You don't want to be fighting on defense. You want to be fighting on offense.

And Republicans are fighting on offense in Minnesota and in New Hampshire. But they're playing defense. But the other side of the coin is, is that in every one of these states, majorities and sometimes double digit majorities voted for Donald Trump in the last election.

And so his showing up can make a difference because he's trying to rally those voters and tell them, I need you to come out for me one more time. And so he can be very effective in those states. And if you look at the polling, almost every one of these states is two to three points within the margin of error.

In 2024, the polls overstated Democratic support by two to three points. So if the polls are equally wrong in this election, that means Republicans will not only hold the Senate. They could hold the House as well.

So I'm not saying that's going to happen. The Democrats have a better hand right now. But we should not put anything in the bank, because if these polls are just slightly off, it could be just like we were all surprised in midterms of 2022 that the red wave didn't show up. The blue wave might be just as evasive as the red wave of 2022.

Perino: El-Sayed's Use Of Video Game Language Like "NPC Player" Doesn't Appeal To Women

Dana Perino, host of "America's Newsroom" on FOX News, talks about President Trump's midterm campaign blitz and Democratic Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed's campaigning tactics in Michigan.

JESSE WATTERS: So two weeks out, and it's about as competitive as you can get. The House looks -- Senate definitely more than in play. America's destiny up for grabs. Whoever wants it can have it.

Dana Perino, co-anchor of "America's Newsroom" and co-host of "The Five."

DANA PERINO, FOX NEWS CHANNEL HOST: Hi!

WATTERS: Dana, the President's midterm blitz -- how much has that changed the dynamic?

PERINO: Well, I think that there's two things happening there. So his midterm blitz tells me one, they are sending him to places where he can actually help, right? I think he knows he's not going to win everything, but can he go to the places where they need him?

For example, he's willing to go to Kansas. He's not too proud to go to Kansas. If Roger Marshall needs him to come there, fine. He might be kind of like internally irritated that he has to go to Kansas, but he will go and he will do the event and he will make sure that he can get the loyalists to make sure that they come out and vote. So, I think that that's smart.

But the other thing is, as I was listening to your monologue and then re- hearing what Bernie Sanders was saying in regards to Elon Musk and how mad they are about Elon Musk. It's because the money that Elon Musk is putting in for Get Out the Vote is coming in at just the right time.

You mentioned earlier, I think the Democrats would have loved for this election day to be two weeks ago rather than two weeks from tonight, because these last dollars are going to make a big difference.

Certainly, we know the anti-Trump vote is coming out, and we know that indies are breaking blue. So the President has to make sure that he can get his team to at least come out and give him one more chance. The Democrats wanted to run against him, and he said, "Fine, give me your best shot."

WATTERS: How is Abdul doing, Dana? We've observed him pretty closely over the last month or two. Is he fading? Is he surging? How do you put him now?

PERINO: Okay, so I have a personal feeling about it, and then I'll put my analyst hat on.

WATTERS: Okay.

PERINO: My personal feeling is I can't take it. That line that he used with the woman about the NPC player --

WATTERS: Yes.

PERINO: And she's like, "What does that even mean?" And I think that his appeal to women has got to be very strange. Like women aren't playing video games all the time. That's not the first time he's used that line, he uses it all the time.

So maybe for the left-wing bros, okay, that could work. So, I feel like he can only answer a question with another question. He has been dogged with the Muslim Brotherhood questions for weeks because he cannot answer them.

He also has to say that Israel is not our friend. He still cannot say that Iran is a bigger adversary than Israel. It's absurd!

So personally, I can't stand it. I don't think Michigan should go for it. Will they? They might.

And here's one of my concerns. I mentioned the Muslim Brotherhood. That to me, it's an issue. But I don't know if it is landing with Michigan voters, and I find that many Republican candidates are having a hard time finding their voice on the two issues that the voters are saying they care about the most: Housing and healthcare.

They have good policies. They can point to things that President Trump did in The Big Beautiful Bill or in lowering prescription drug costs, and they're not doing it, and to me that shows a little bit of danger when you have races that are as close as the ones that you talked about.

WATTERS: Why do you think that is? Do you think they're just slinging mud late and going negative, or they just don't have anything to say? Because you're right.

PERINO: I think that -- I think the Republicans have never found their footing since promising to repeal and replace Obamacare. They never repealed or replaced Obamacare. They actually quite like the private market. They think that competition is good. They know in their bones that it works.

These guys out there like Abdul El-Sayed that are selling Medicare-for-All, they have never run a business. They don't know what it would take. They have fantasies of what the healthcare system is like in Europe. They've never lived there. They don't know what it's like to have those kind of waiting times.

And they also aren't getting asked the second question, which is, can you keep your doctor if we go to that? What's it going to cost me at home? What are we going to do about, for example, union households love their private healthcare plans? What would Medicare-for-All do for those? Guess what? No more!

So if I were Rogers, I would go on offense when it came to healthcare.

WATTERS: Well, Dana, I think we learned another rules for men: Men should never talk about video games with women.

PERINO: Okay, I think that's a good one. We'll add that, and also never sing in public at a Celine Dion concert.

WATTERS: That's right! We learned two rules for men this week. Dana, thank you as always. I will see you tomorrow.

PERINO: Yes!

Enten: Democrats Lead By 21 Points Among 2024 Nonvoters In Senate Races, 25 Points In House Races

CNN's Harry Enten examined how Americans who did not vote in 2024 feel about President Donald Trump, highlighting his steep decline in approval among the group

JOHN BERMAN: Brand new CNN poll out this morning shows President Trump with a record low approval rating. The New York Times has a poll showing largely the similar thing. All the polls basically share the same types of numbers, but underneath those numbers there is one group of voters that may be swinging in a way that could be decisive.

With us now, CNN Chief Data Analyst, Harry Enten. You know, I may have misspoken there. I called them voters, right?

It may be that that's the exact opposite here. These are people who didn't vote in 2020.

HARRY ENTEN, CNN CHIEF DATA ANALYST: This is exactly right, Johnny B. It's the voters who did not cast a ballot in 2024, and that group could ultimately prove to be the decisive factor in a number of key races, and you could see it right here. Their views on President Trump, oh my goodness gracious, it is a different world from where we were back in 2024.

Voters who didn't cast a ballot in 2024, Trump's net approval rating. Just after that election, look at this, his net approval rating was plus four points for his plans for office. Look at where we are right now.

Oh my God, negative 62 points. Johnny B, that is a very, very unlucky 66 point decline going in the wrong direction. Voters who did not cast a ballot in 2024, they're like, eh, eh, so-so. Now they are decisively against the President of the United States.

BERMAN: It has to be a key target for Democrats. They have to get these people to the polls. If they can, it will clearly pad their margins.

What are these voters saying about some of the key issues?

ENTEN: Yes, I mean, what is driving this? What is driving this absolutely massive decline for Donald Trump? Well, how about just inflation? Look at this.

BERMAN: Wow.

ENTEN: Wow. Wow is the name of the game. I like to put numbers on the screen that I can get to in just two hands. 10 percent. 10 percent.

That is the percentage of voters who did not cast a ballot in 2024 who approve of the job that Donald John Trump is doing on the key issue of the day, 10 percent. And look at this, when you're in Michael Irvin's number for a percentage, you know it is either really good or really bad. In this case, it is really bad.

88 percent of voters who did not cast a ballot in 2024 disapprove of the job that Donald John Trump is doing on the key issue of the day, inflation. 10 very bad turns of approval. I mean, that is the moon landing line. You know, the percentage of Americans who think we fake the moon landing, you don't want to be there. And then 88 percent disapprove. Atrocious.

BERMAN: I will say you and I both keep calling the voters. They may not be. That is going to be the key for Democrats is to make them voters because again, these margins will clearly help them.

So in the race for Congress, how are these people?

ENTEN: Yes.

BERMAN: I'm not going to call them voters. How are these people feeling?

ENTEN: How are these people? How are these people feeling? Well, we're going to look at those who are actually likely to turn out and vote.

That I think is the key measure, right? And you can see it here. Take a look here.

OK, voters who didn't cast a ballot in 2024, the choice for House margin. Look at this. Plus 25 points.

What about in the key Senate races right in those red states, those red states getting those voters off the sideline? Look at this. A 21 point lead for Democrats in those very tight races. It could prove to be quite decisive.

Indeed, those voters getting them off the sidelines and into the ballot booth.

BERMAN: You're talking about Michael Irvin play for the Dallas Cowboys. I believe in Tarrant County. I think the stadiums in Arlington.

ENTEN: I believe.

BERMAN: Yes, but that's neither here nor. The point is, what are the prediction markets saying about Texas right now?

ENTEN: Yes, you got to go outside of Dallas to see it. All right, chance to win the Texas Senate race. James Talarico -- according to the Kalshi prediction market -- 64 percent chance. Ken Paxton, just a 36 percent chance. This 64 percent chance could become 100 percent election night if the polls are right about those voters who didn't cast a ballot in 2024, getting off the sidelines and voting for this gentleman on the screen.

BERMAN: That's one of the groups of voters James Talarico is trying to reach when he's out there campaigning.

ENTEN: You got it right.

BERMAN: Thank you very much.

ENTEN: Thank you, my friend.

Abdul El-Sayed: Too Many Black Detroiters Have Had Bad Experiences With "Somebody Who Looks Like Me"

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed sits down with Ashley Allison, owner of "The Root," for an interview and a bite to eat, and discusses the relationship between Detroit's Muslim and African-American communities. Allison ordered blackened salmon while El-Sayed ordered fried chicken.

ASHLEY ALLISON, THE ROOT: You talked about black churches. Let's talk about black voters. You almost certainly cannot win Michigan in this race if you do not get black voters. In the primary, it was split. It seemed like to be somewhat generational. And the polling is saying right now you still have some work to do. So what do you want black voters to know you will do for them if you win the Senate race?

ABDUL EL-SAYED: There will not have been a U.S. senator from Michigan who will have had as much of their foundation in public service built alongside and working with black folk. I came to rebuild the health department in the city of Detroit in 2015. Led Wayne County's Department of Health, Human and Veteran Services. A lot of people come and show them, here's what I'm gonna do for you. The thing I keep saying is, here's what I did with you. This is the work we did together.

Now, you know, that primary, we got outspent 11 to 1, right? Most of that spending was spending intended to break my relationship with the black community. And unfortunately, you know, it was not that hard to break.

Because for too many black Detroiters in particular, their experience with somebody who looks like me is not a good one. You go into a gas station, you go to a party store, you're being talked at from behind a glass wall. If you're a woman, you're being catcalled. If you're a kid, you're being sold a Lucy out the back. You're being denied a bathroom. I've always tried to be on the right side of that.

But I also understand that like, if that's your experience with somebody whose name is like mine, that leaves a terrible taste in your mouth. I also ask to be judged on the content of my character, right? What I have done.

And I also understand that too often, we get told that it's either one or the other, not both. So, you know, I want folks to know that for me, the commitment to equity has been the foundation of my work. Whether it's my doctoral thesis.

El-Sayed: JD Vance's View Of America Is Small-Minded, "It's Small Like Him"

In an interview with Greg Sargent on "The Daily Blast" podcast, Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed talks about the state of the Michigan Senate race, his recent battles with JD Vance, his big moment with a GOP plant-and how it all reflects his theory of MAGA politics.

GREG SARGENT, THE NEW REPUBLIC: Understood. I want to ask you about JD Vance, because I think that what's going on behind what the press calls barbs-they keep saying, They're throwing barbs at each other-but there's an actual argument underway between the two of you about America. And I want to ask you about this.

When he says you should express gratitude for what the U.S. has given you, I think he's really saying you're lower on the American hierarchy than heritage Americans are, the ones who have ancestors buried in Kentucky or whatever he says. I want to give you a chance to respond to that deeper veiled point he's making.

ABDUL EL-SAYED: Yeah, look, people like JD Vance think America is too small for some of us. I think America is big enough. I think America has been big enough to include people like JD Vance, to include people like me, to include people whose families came here and immigrated here and built a life here, or whose forefathers came here, or whose people were here before anybody else showed up, or people whose ancestors were brought here despite themselves.

I think America is big enough for all of us. His view of America is small. It's small like him. It's small-minded. It's about pointing to other people and making the argument that the reason you don't have is because of them. That's what he's been doing his entire political career. I understand America, and I certainly understand Michigan. Michiganders are a lot bigger than he thinks we are. He thinks by pointing to my name and my faith that he's going to distract us from the terrible policies of their administration.

And in the end, right now, whether you are a child of immigrants, or your family's been here for decades, or you're Native, or you're Black American, you need gas you can afford. You need to be able to afford your groceries. You need to be able to pay your rent, or believe you can own a home. You need to know that you're not going to drown in debt. You need to breathe clean air and drink clean water. And they want to distract us, because it's their ridiculous policies that have left us where we are. I aim to consistently be talking about how we're going to get gas prices down, make sure people can afford their groceries and that they can see a doctor.

Vance: Nobody Hates The Idea Of People Enriching Themselves Through Government Access More Than Donald J. Trump

Vice President JD Vance addressed questions about SNAP fraud and corruption allegations involving Trump administration officials during a press conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was campaigning for gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Jon Husted.

TANYA O'ROURKE, WCVO-TV RPEORTER: Mr. Vice President, Tanya O'Rourke from WCVO here in Cincinnati, welcome home.

VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE: Hey Tanya, good to see you.

O'ROURKE: Good to see you too. Knowing the type of fraud that's taken place within the SNAP program you guys have identified, is there a look at SNAP itself as a program to see why this was able to be a thing? Why these people were able to defraud this program?

VANCE: Well, one of the challenges, Tanya, is because of the way that SNAP is administered, it can sometimes, and we're doing a lot of work to try to change this, it can sometimes be very hard to identify the fraud until after it's already happened. I mean, part of what helped us identify Shoddy Dread is the guy's posting Instagram videos, and we're able to connect the money that he's making with the money that he's then using to go and buy seats on private jets and all these other things. One of the things we have tried to do, and I'll give great credit to the state of Ohio for being a leader on this, a few other states should deserve credit as well, but if we go, for example, to the state of California, where we wire, meaning the federal government wires billions of dollars directly to the state of California, they don't even know who's on their SNAP rolls.

They don't know whether those people are legal residents of the United States of America. Sometimes they don't even know if they're real people at all. So there's no verification in certain states, and that's because this program is fundamentally a state-administered program.

And so what we've tried to do is, to your point, try to get a little inventive and try to get ahead of the curve and anticipating and seeing the fraud before it goes out the door, but it would be a lot easier with state cooperation. Again, we have that in the state of Ohio. We don't have it in other states, and that has been a barrier to fighting fraud in some of these programs.

Sometimes the states just don't want to cooperate. I'll take one more question, then we'll have to hit the road.

NAOMI LIM, WASHINGTON EXAMINER: Thanks, Mr. Vice President. My name's Naomi Lim. I'm with the Washington Examiner. Two quick ones. We're in your home state. What do you think you bring as a surrogate to help a Houston, to help a Ramaswamy, just because this is your home state?

And then secondly, what would you say to criticism that you are cracking down on fraud, but there have been other members or former members of the administration that have been criticized for pay-to-play, like the likes of Kimberly Guilfoyle, the likes of Alina Habba. How do you reconcile those two split screens?

VANCE: Well, what I'd say is that we want to fight fraud wherever we see it. What we're not going to do is go and attack somebody based on an anonymously sourced story. And some of those cases, you have to let the facts play out and see what the facts actually are.

Look, if I see anybody trying to do pay-for-play within our government, within our administration, I can tell you, I'm not going to have to call the president and encourage him to do something. He's going to call me and demand an answer to why we aren't doing more. But you got to let the facts drive these things.

There is no person who hates the idea of people enriching themselves fraudulently over access to the government than Donald J. Trump. I think he's been a great advocate, obviously, for our anti-fraud efforts.

He's been the person who's driven most of our anti-fraud efforts. Fundamentally, the president is not going to stand for this, but we're not going to try people in the court of public opinion. We're going to let real facts develop.

And that's one thing I'd say to the American people. I see a lot of stories about our administration, and sometimes my initial reaction to them is, I really don't like that. And then when you read the details, you realize that a lot of what's being accused is, one, anonymously sourced, or two, it's just completely fraudulent.

There's no real evidentiary basis for it at all, which is why, again, we don't try people in the court of public opinion. We actually try people according to the real facts that are out there. But I can tell you, this attorney general and the entire administration, we reject pay-for-play.

We reject anybody getting enriched off of their connections to the government. And if we see it happening, whether it's our partisan friends or our partisan enemies, we are going to do something about it.

I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent—and it’s not easy for a mother to say this—but Amy has a serious problem.

She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life.

Josh Holmes: Yes, Republicans Are Unpopular, But Unlike In Other Wave Elections, Democrats Haven't Made The Sale

Josh Holmes, co-host of the Ruthless podcast, joins Bret Baier to discuss the midterm elections and why Democrats have struggled to capitalize on Republican unpopularity.

BRET BAIER, FOX NEWS: Which is right around the corner once we get past Tuesday, two weeks Tuesday. In fact, the president was asked about a certain endorsement today. Take a listen.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DONALD TRUMP, (R) U.S. PRESIDENT: And I'll tell you this, he is a very talented person and he is a very good person, but we've literally -- I don't think we have ever talked about it. It's early, very early right now. We have to get through the midterms.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BAIER: I don't think J.D. Vance was expecting the endorsement right there.

JOSH HOLMES, "RUTHLESS" PODCAST CO-HOST: No, I don't think so.

BAIER: But he is holding it close to the vest.

HOLMES: I think it's the great challenge that the vice president has if and when he commits to a presidential race is that Trump is still the star of the show at some level and what he says about his candidacy each and every day will be part of the messaging dynamic.

All that being said, I think both of them are super-focused on the midterms here. I will just say one distinction that I have seen in this election as compared to wave elections on both sides is that the party out of power really hasn't made the sale. Yes, Republicans are unpopular in many of these places. Democrats are no more popular than they are. And there is a whole confluence of reasons for that, but it does balance or at least mitigate what is a challenging electorate.

BAIER: Right. So the question is, you can talk about costs being high, but what are you going to do about it?

HOLMES: Exactly. And if you are coming off the Biden economy and introduced to inflation, are these guys really the answer to that question?

What Went Wrong for Katie Zacharia? RCP White House Correspondent Carolina Lumetta

RCP White House correspondent Carolina Lumetta recounted the tumultuous week Katie Zacharia spent as press secretary on the RCP podcast -- what went wrong, and whether President Trump will choose a new spokesperson before Election Day.

"I spoke to several White House insiders who have different interpretations of what happened, depending on who you ask," she said. "The whole problem for the White House now is that it was distracted for an entire week where all of the news was about the press secretary, not the message that the president wanted the press secretary to be delivering."

"Just to recap the timeline, she accepted this job not this past Friday, but the Friday before. Spent the weekend moving from California to D.C. without her family. She has four kids, 12 and under. Her husband was still in California with them, but planned to move to D.C. as well," Lumetta said. "She spent last Monday, which was a federal holiday, starting to get onboarded, and the president announces that she'll have her first briefing on Tuesday morning."

"She briefs for 14 minutes on Tuesday morning and immediately goes on a trip with him," she explained.

"Thursday she just said hi to reporters but did not gaggle, did not take questions. That evening she was on an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News that did not go well for her at all. And then Friday morning she was in another interview with Fox & Friends in the morning that also did not go well.

"In the meantime, we're finding out that she had been calling herself a lawyer but had never passed the bar. And then there was this debate over what counts as a lawyer versus an attorney.

"Friday afternoon, she's telling reporters how excited she is ... and then Trump told reporters the job 'wasn't for her.' So everyone has kind of interpreted this as she is fired."

Baier: Shifting Hispanic Support For Republicans Could Turn Redistricting Gains Into A Wash

On "Special Report," Bret Baier breaks down the race for control of Congress, declining support among Republican Hispanic voters, and whether Republicans can turn new district maps into more House seats.

BRET BAIER, FOX NEWS ANCHOR: Welcome back to Special Report. The battle for control of Congress entering its final sprint, just two weeks to go until midterm elections. Republicans currently hold a slim majority in the House of Representatives, a nationwide redistricting push aimed to give Republicans a big edge in the midterms.

While it's not clear that it will, the GOP initially believed that possibly redrawn maps could produce a boost of anywhere from between 10 and 15 seats, including new Republican-friendly districts in Texas, in Louisiana, in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Ohio. Democrats in California and Utah responded with their own maps. Courts have also blocked or altered some maps where the GOP hoped to make gains.

Well now, Republican strategists are trying to lower the expectations where they think they'll be lower. Instead of double-digit gains, the GOP could net as little as one seat nationwide. One of the problems that Republican strategists are looking at in these new districts could be among Hispanic voters, where Republicans made really big inroads in recent cycles.

President Trump, you may remember, got 43 percent of the Hispanic vote in 2024, compared to 35 percent in 2020. Well, today's Fox News power rankings indicate this trouble. It shows for the GOP, 31 percent of Hispanic voters say they prefer the Republican candidate over the Democrat. That is down 12 points from their support of President Trump in 2024. No, this is not a presidential year. It is a bit of apples and oranges, but it could show a trend in this demographic.

Meanwhile, the GOP is pouring money into the newly drawn districts, spending $133 million on TV ads, according to Ad Impact. And it's part of a mountain of cash that is helping Republicans stay competitive around the country. The most recent Federal Elections Commission filings show that the RNC has nearly $126 million cash on hand, compared to the DNC's roughly $17 million.

Now, that's not including all the outside groups that are pouring money into these races, and it is overwhelmingly in favor of Republicans. The question now is whether Republican maps are strong enough to withstand political headwinds and the environment, or if a shift, support among key voting groups, could turn an expected redistricting boost into a wash.
